Eleanor Harlor, 103

Eleanor (Smith) Harlor, age 103, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home on Monday, July 3, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late William E. Harlor, to whom she was wed for over sixty years at the time of his death in 1998.
Born in Woburn, MA on April 4, 1914, she was a loving daughter of the late Augustus and Mary (Hicks) Smith.
Eleanor grew up in Mansfield and was a 1932 graduate of Mansfield High School. She was a dedicated homemaker and after raising her family, worked at the former Yarn Shop on North Main St. in Mansfield.
Mrs. Harlor had made her home in Mansfield for most of her life, and along with her late husband Bill had resided in Harwich for twenty years.
Eleanor was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Foxboro. She loved spending time with her family, and her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, playing card and jigsaw puzzles.
She was the devoted mother of E. Joan Holliday of Mansfield, William A. Harlor and his wife Mary Ann of Vero Beach, Florida, Lyle S. Harlor and his wife Leslie of Mansfield, and the late Jon E. Harlor and his late wife Eleanor “Hedy” Harlor. She was the dear sister of Ruth Young of Maine, Mary Lou Christenson of Florida, and the late Howard, Albert, Norman and Augustus Smith, and Doris Lieber and Louise Roby. She was the cherished grandmother of William Harlor, James Harlor, Adam Harlor, Jessica Stein, Amy Tomlins, and is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a service in celebration of her life, on Thursday July 13th at 1:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Thursday July 13th beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
