Clifton E. Briggs, 97, of Westport, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Phyllis E. (Perry) Briggs.
Mr. Briggs was born in Dartmouth, son of the late Charles J. and Ady (Wood) Briggs and had been a longtime resident of Westport. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement he worked as a superintendent for the former Westcott Construction Co. and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union #1305. He was a partner in Driftway Meadows Morgan Horse Farm, LLC in Westport and a member of the Dartmouth Grange #162.
Survivors include his daughter: Joan P. Travers and her husband Michael of Westport; 2 grandsons: Scott Travers and his wife Joanne Lawrence and Sean Travers and his wife Terri; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Raymond, Clarence, Charles & Christopher Briggs, Sarah Briggs, Lena Gilcrest & Edna Fisher.
