Obituary

DUDLEY - Robert E. “Bob” Voegtlin, 69, of 26 Mill Road, died Monday, Sept.26, in Harrington Hospital after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Eileen M. (O’Neil) Voegtlin; 2 sons, Ernest K. Voegtlin of West Palm Beach, FL and John E. Voegtlin of Woonsocket, RI; a daughter, Karen E. Trieber of Stoughton; a brother, Ernest F. Voegtlin of Viera, FL; 2 sisters, Rosemarie Allan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Elizabeth Adey of Plymouth; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Cameron Trieber; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister Ellen Whyte.

He was born in Brookline, MA, a son of Ernest A. and Marie (Oberle) Voegtlin and lived in the Boston area and later New York before moving here. He graduated from Boston Latin High School in 1953, earned a bachelors degree in economics from Tufts University, and then a master’s degree in business administration from Boston University.

Mr. Voegtlin was the CEO for the Revere Sugar Refinery in Charlestown for 15 years. He also worked for the US Sugar Company in Williamsville, NY and did managing and consulting jobs in various other places. He was a veteran of the U S Navy.

He was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church. He enjoyed collecting antiques, helping people in need and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.

The funeral with military honors, will be held Friday, Sept. 30, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road. Burial will be at 1:00 PM Friday in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford, MA. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 29 in the funeral home.
