He was born March 10, 1953 in Boston to Charles Collie and Maragret (Holloman) Collie. A woodworker by trade, his specialty was the butcher block furniture popular in the 1970s and 1980s, a skill he crafted working at Northeast Oak in Jamaica Plain, Mass. for more than 15 years. He also worked at Metropolitan Woodwork of Marlborough, Mass. before moving to NH in 1988.

In New Hampshire, he transitioned to property and building maintenance, working at Greenwood Condominiums in Nashua, the Laconia Federal Building, Lakeshore Estates, and most recently, Joe was a housekeeper at the Belknap County Nursing Home for eight years.

In addition to woodworking and building things with his hands, he was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved to paint, and was inseparable from his dogs; Popeye, and later Simon. A lover of the outdoors, he camped and fished often when he was younger - and spent many afternoons in recent years with his dogs at Hamlin Park in Meredith.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years this September, Donna (Durant) Collie. Their son, Joe Collie, Jr. and three granddaughters he loved, Makena; 14, Sophia 10; and Amelia; 6.
