Michael J. Damiano, of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 29th at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. He was 90.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John and Maria (Paradiso) Damiano, and attended local North End schools. Michael was a bookie within the sports industry. He loved to play poker and travel to Foxwoods. Michael was an avid sports fan, and particularly fond of the Boston team, and he also enjoyed boxing.
Michael was the beloved husband of Joan (Cronin) Damiano of Hingham and the beloved husband of the late Esther (Crescenzi) Vellenti, who passed away in 2012. He was the devoted father of Michael A. Damiano and his wife Deborah of Plymouth, Marie Shay and her husband Daniel of Burlington and Joseph Damiano of Los Angeles, California. Michael was the loving grandfather of Emily Damiano and her wife Brandy of Santa Monica, California, Matthew Damiano and his wife Catherine of New York City, Allison Gill and her husband Robert of Burlington, Annie Courchene and her husband Matthew of Westwood, Jillian Costa and her husband Vito of Burlington, Julie Damiano and her fiancé Tom Prinos of Braintree, Fallon Woodbury and her husband Josh of Burlington, Mallory Hauser of Burlington, William Shay and his wife Tara of Lowell. He was the loving great grandfather of ten, and the dear brother of Gilda Benoit of Somerville and Anthony Damiano of Medford. Michael was preceded in death by his seven other siblings. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, services will be held privately.
