MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mrs. Faye Marie Davis Long, 81, entered into rest on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Doctor’s Hospital. Faye was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence (Larry) C. Long, Sr, her father and mother, Charles Telford and Marie Mulligan Davis, and her brother Ted Davis Jr.
A devoted wife of 52 years, loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Long was born and raised in Augusta and a graduate of Richmond Academy. She had a love for dance and fashion, having taught at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and serving on the JB White Teen Fashion Board. Prior to becoming a full-time mother, Faye worked for Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust. While her children were young, she actively participated in their schools, sports teams, and church activities. In the later years she became involved with the Columbia County Republican Women and enjoyed working for the Board of Elections. One of the greatest joys in her life was spending time with her four grandsons. A devout Christian, she attended Westside Baptist and Augusta Old Line Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Lawrence Carlyle Long Jr., and wife, Paula, Matthew Telford Long Sr., and wife, Sharon, and Jonathan Stephen Long and wife, Tammy, as well as four grandsons, Stephen Long, Daniel Long, Nathan Long and Matthew Long, Jr. Her surviving sibling is Jack Burgess Davis. The family will receive friends at Platts funeral home in Evans on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017, 11:00 AM at Westside Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Lehn officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
