Obituary

ROY W. REIMER (82) of Hanson died Thursday June 27, at Webster Park Nursing Home in Rockland after a long illness.

Born in Brighton, MA, Roy was the son of the late Roy W. Reimer and Catherine (Haley) Reimer.

Roy attended Boston Public Schools, graduating from Brighton High School. Roy served in the Massachusetts National Guard as an artilleryman in the 101st Field Artillery and later as a divisional photographer for the 26th Division. He worked as an award winning free-lance photographer for the Boston Post & Record American.

Roy began working in 1962 for the MBTA as a bus mechanic, retiring in 1996. He was an active member of the Local 264 Machinists Union.

Roy was also a call-firefighter with the Hanson Fire Department and member of the Hanson Firefighter’s Association. He was active in Boy Scouts as a Scout Leader and Scout Master.

Roy was devoted to his wife Louise A. (Deary) Reimer of 59 years and his four sons and their wives, Michael (Theresa) of Hanson, Stephen of Hanson, James (Corrine) of Hanson and Dennis (Andrea) of Plymouth, grandfather of Melissa, Michael, Emily, Carolyn, Tyler, Thomas and Owen. Brother of Ann Lentini, the late Thomas Reimer, the late Catherine Morris, the late Virginia Jones, the late Mary Lydon, and the late Ellen Malone.

His services will be held Monday July 3 at 10:00 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held Sunday July 2 from 1:00-4:00 PM.
