Roger Reaves, 72, of Wilcox County, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, July 1, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan officiating. Bobby Adkinson will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Bill Tracy officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Reaves was born June 26, 1945, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late George Elton & Bessie Lois Trawick Reaves. He graduated from Wilcox County High School. Mr. Reaves farmed with his family and was a concrete finisher with Ross of Georgia. He retired from Fitzgerald Water Light & Bond, after 27 years, as the night clerk. Mr. Reaves loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by sisters and brothers: Mary H. Smathers & Bill of Slayden, Tennessee, Hazel A. Brown & Curtis of Wilcox County, Betty Jo Adkinson & Wayne of Rochelle, Johnny Reaves of Wilcox County, Billy Reaves of Wilcox County and George Elton Reaves, Jr. & Debra of Rochelle. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James David Reaves and a sister, Karleen Reaves.
