HACKNEY - Christopher Charles Hackney, 72, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2017 at his Fernandina Beach, FL residence.
He was born April 10, 1945 in Newark, NJ. Chris was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Japan.
He worked for the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska for 18 years and loved fishing the streams, rivers and bays throughout Alaska.
Chris and his wife, Beth, retired to Fernandina Beach in 1995. He worked for Ft. Clinch State Park as an OPS for 13 years and was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Hackney; three sons, Daniel E. Hackney (Stephanie) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Christopher M. Hackney of Ashburn, VA and David Hackney (Rae) of Northglenn, CO; a daughter, Tami Taylor (Mark) of Parker, CO; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
