Carmine Rapa of Somerville died on Tuesday, June 27, at Cambridge Hospital. Born and raised in Venticano, Italy, he was the son of the late Giacomo and Raffaella (Denunzio) Rapa. Carmine came to the U.S. in 1969, settling first in Cambridge before moving to Somerville in 1989.
Carmine was the beloved husband of the late Esterina (Ibelli) Rapa, and the devoted father of Giacomo Rapa of Somerville, Antonietta Locke and her husband Richard of Milford, New Hampshire, and Raffaella Dwyer and her husband Clifford of Weston, Florida. He was the loving grandfather of Jonathan, Nicholas, Daniel and Julie, and brother of Maria DeGregorio of Cambridge and her late husband Umberto, Tardina Barbato and her husband Giardino of Italy, and the late Luigi Rapa and his late wife Antonietta. Carmine is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, July 1 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 9 through 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
