John A Duncan Jr., of Whitman, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at his home on June 23 at age 56.
Born in Quincy, he was the eldest child of Patricia (Galiano) Duncan and the late John Duncan Sr. who raised him in Weymouth where he graduated from Weymouth North High School in 1979.
After beginning a career as a chef in several restaurants in Massachusetts and New York, he changed careers and eventually spent over 20 years in the Iron Workers, Local 7 union working on many buildings and projects in the Boston area.
John loved fishing and boating, spending many early mornings at the Cape Cod Canal and Boston Harbor for salt water fishing and Peter’s Pond in Sandwich for fresh water fishing.
He was the beloved husband of Lori (Johnson) Duncan for the past 14 years, and is survived by his brother Steven Duncan and his wife Patricia of Parrish, Florida and his sister Donna (Duncan) Driscoll of Norwood. John was a proud father and grandfather, leaving behind his daughter Pamella Lee (Duncan) Maggiore and her husband Anthony of Pembroke, his daughter Jacquelynn Ann Duncan of Allston, and his cherished grandson Owen Gredler of Pembroke with whom he spent much precious time and often shared his love of fishing. He was the step-father of Danielle and Russell Campot of Hanson, uncle of Sarah and Andrew Duncan of Parrish, Florida and Thomas Driscoll of Norwood, and also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Saturday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Jerome’s Church in Weymouth.
