LACONIA-----Ann Patricia (Chelsom) Forkell, 78, of Elm Street, passed away after complications following a heart attack on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Concord Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was born in London, England on January 28, 1939, the daughter of James and Henrietta (Bartrip) Chelsom. She grew up in the village of Emneth in Cambridgeshire where her family had relocated to escape the bombing of London during WWII. She moved to the US in 1965 after having lived in both Holland and the UK.
Ann was a wonderful cook and baker as well as a talented seamstress and knitter. She loved British literature, New York Yankees baseball and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Over the years, she had worked at Kmart as an office manager, Lakes Region Community Services and Lutheran Social Services as a client manager.
Ann is survived by her children, Joanne Ahlberg and her husband Ferdinand of Strafford, NH, Lesley Marden and her husband Michael of Laconia, Patricia Belsito and her husband Robert of Millbury, MA, and James R. Forkell and his wife Colleen of Rochester, NH; a sister, Christine Ayre and her husband Roy of Outwell, England; six adored grandchildren, Christopher Marden, Rachel (Marden) York, Cassandra, Lillian and Jane Belsito, and Kerry Ann Forkell; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, James William Forkell and her beloved niece and goddaughter, Anne Ayre.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance. A private service will be held at St. Edmund’s Church in Emneth, England.
