BELL, REX
Rex M. Bell, 78, of Montrose, NY, (formerly of Ossining) passed away on June 6, 2017 peacefully in his sleep. 
Rex was born in Ossining, NY on November 23, 1938 to the late M. Henry and Dorothy (Johnson) Bell. He graduated from Ossining high school in 1956. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After his service he became a police officer in Yorktown, NY in 1962 where he went on to become a detective and retired as a sergeant in 1982. He then earned a bachelors and masters  degree in education from Mercy College and became a special education teacher in New Fairfield, CT. After his retirement he trained, bred, and raised several champion AKC Field Trial dogs. 
Rex enjoyed traveling and was often on the road. He was involved in many youth programs and coached several youth and high school sports teams throughout his life. Rex was rarely seen without one of his many dogs by his side. 
Rex is survived by his beloved Labrador retriever "Rev" Blu Genes; his brother Bruce (Lorraine) Bell; his nephews Douglas Scott (Katalin) Bell, Adam (Therese) Bell; his nieces Theresa Bell, Anna (Thomas) Carey, as well as many grand nephews and a grand niece. He also leaves behind countless caring relatives and friends, many who were by his side during his final days. 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 11 am at the Faith Lutheran Brethren Church 480 Pleasantville Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY.  Reception to follow at Faith Lutheran.
