Lona Mirl Harwell Hodge, age 91, died June 24, 2017 at Yalobusha General in Water Valley, MS. She was born September 1, 1925 in Oxford, MS to the late Louis and Sleet Kitchens Harwell. She worked many years at Big Yank and was a wonderful seamstress. She loved cooking for her family, and kept her favorite recipes in an old coffee tin can. She was quite a social butterfly, and enjoyed working in ministry as a pastor’s wife. She was devoted to her family, and was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.
Services are planned for Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 1 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time with Bro. Bennie Turnage and Rev Freddie Moorman officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Lafayette County with Blake Hodge, Jay Hodge, Austin Hodge, Jordan Hodge, Trace Hodge, and Matt Wilburn serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Hodge, Mike Hodge, Tim Hodge, Eli Hodge, and Scott Hodge.
Ms Mirl was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, William L. Hodge; three sons, William Eddie Hodge, Bill Hodge, and Ronnie Hodge; and a granddaughter, Amy Hodge Wilburn.
She is survived by nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
