Limington - Herbert W. Ramsdell, 82, of Limington died peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on June 20, 2017. He was born in Standish on August 6, 1934 a son of Arthur and Susan (Miller) Ramsdell. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of Limington Academy. He married Marion Harmon on August 1, 1954.
Herbert worked for Locust Farm Dairy in Limington for many years. He drove a home delivery truck, worked in production and drove the truck picking up raw milk. He also worked as a general contractor for several years building homes in the local area.
Herbert loved town politics and served Limington as Selectman for 21 years. He was also on the Finance Committee for several years and helped form the Limington Volunteer Fire Department. He was even Town Constable for a couple of years. He was honored in March of 2017 with the "Spirit of America Foundation Award" for his dedicated years of service to the Town of Limington.
He enjoyed evening rides with Marion to the barn to see the kids, or just around town to check things out. He also enjoyed daily visits with Bob and Sis. Above all he enjoyed working around the family farm and spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife, Marion Ramsdell, as well as several siblings. Surviving are 2 sons, Timothy Ramsdell and wife Tammy of Limington, and Mark Ramsdell and wife Patty of Limington. A brother, Ronald "Jimmy" Ramsdell of Standish. A sister, Gloria Gross of Pennsylvania. Three grandchildren: Corey Belcher and her husband Paul, Heath Ramsdell and his wife Kellie, and Wade Ramsdell. Six great grandchildren: Dawson, MacKenzie, Madelyn, Tanner, Trey and Casey as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at the East Limington Baptist Church.
