Camilla M. (Murphy) Lopez, 83, of Marion, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away Monday June 19, 2017 at Sippican Healthcare Center.
Born in New York City, the daughter of the late John D. and Rebecca T. (Makin) Murphy, she lived in New York for most of her life, before moving to the Greater New Bedford area in 2011. Although she was a New Yorker, she always held a great affection for the New Bedford area, having spent many wonderful summers here with her grandparents during her youth. She had resided for the last several years at Sippican where she was fondly known as "the Queen of Sippican."
Camilla was formerly employed as a secretary at Columbia University Medical Center for 25 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed lighthouses, beaches, and painting.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Sippican Healthcare Center for the care and compassion shown to Camilla over the past few years.
She is survived by two sons, Nicholas Lopez and his companion Evelyn of Germany, and John Lopez and his wife Rachel of Pennsylvania; her great-niece, Tyffaney Fonseca and her wife Andrea and their daughter Kaelyn; her great-nephews, Eric Oliveira and his companion Heather, and Daniel Oliveira and his companion Thaiesha; her cousins, Linda Ross and her husband Ernie and their daughter Tracey Ramos and her husband Richard, Dianne Finger, and Nancy Labrecque and her son Chad; several grandchildren; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was the former wife of the late Ray Lopez, sister of the late Irene Loosen, and aunt of the late Cynthia and Mark Loosen.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
