Matthew Steele Hunter, 34, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Thursday, June 22, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Brad Bradford and Jeromy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Henderson Chapel Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Matthew was born March 8, 1983, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Gerald Marshall and Carol Lynne Bradford Hunter. He played football at Irwin County High School and graduated in 2001. He received his associates degree from Florida State College in Jacksonville, Florida. Matthew served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a computer technician for Comcast and loved to travel. He enjoyed sports, photography and playing board games. He was a master at trivia and debating. Matthew adored his nieces and nephews. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his sister, Amanda Williams and her husband, Jeromy of Ocala, Florida; a brother, Marshall Hunter and his wife Morgan of Jacksonville, Florida; nieces and nephews: Zachary Steele Williams, Mackenzie Paige Williams and Lillian Audrey Hunter; a grandmother, Eula “Dobbie” Bradford of Jacksonville, Florida; friends that were like his family: Ashley & Casey Griffin of Ocilla and their children: Owen Thomas Griffin and Brooks Matthew Griffin and his Victorian bulldog, Dozer.
