Sarah (Jones) Swindells, 84, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at her home in Westport where she had lived for more than twenty years. She was the devoted wife of the late David W. Swindells, to whom she had been married for sixty-one blessed years. Ms. Swindells was born in Tiverton, daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Tripp) Jones of Tiverton and was the youngest of the eleven Jones children.
Ms. Swindells was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and earned her registered nurse degree from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing. During a long nursing career, Ms. Swindells worked in a Boston hospital, in a private oncology office in New York City and even for the New York Times. She loved to play golf and sail with her husband. She was an active member of the Fall River Women's Club, serving that club in various positions, including president.
She leaves behind two daughters: Deborah Donovan and Cindye Russell and her husband Gerard, all of Westport; 2 brothers; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
