Philip Arthur Lavigne, age 74 of Raynham, formerly of Whitman and Hanson, passed away on June 17, 2017 at Vibra Hospital in New Bedford.
He was the beloved husband of Carol Ann Nogueira-Lavigne, and husband of the late Anne Lavigne.
Mr. Lavigne was born in Quincy, a son of the late Paul and Thelma (Barslow) Lavigne.
Before retirement, Philip was employed by both Lighthouse Environmental and Cyn Environmental Services for over 50 years. He was also a former owner and operator of a snowmobile store and a deli in Lincoln NH.
Philip was a graduate of Whitman High School, he later joined the Marine Corp and served as a helicopter Crew Chief in the Cuban Blockade. He also served during Vietnam and was awarded Air Medals for his meritorious service for completing 87 combat missions.
Mr. Lavigne was a member of several organizations, Wounded Warrior Project, VFW of Raynham and the Marine Corp League. He also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, NASCAR, gardening and making puzzles to give to his family and friends. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father and friend who will be missed by many.
Besides beloved wife Carol, he is survived by his children, Michelle Decker and husband Marc of CO, Traci Harvey and husband Michael of PA, Vicki Bagnol of MA, his stepchildren, John Schmouth and wife Anne of MA, Matthew Nogueira and wife Sue of Canada, Teri Taylor and husband Carl of RI and Heidi Nogueira of MA. Philip was also the grandfather of Christopher Gottlick and Joshua Zappala, and brother of Priscilla Ferreira and husband Stanley, Joan Pimental and husband Paul both of MA, and brother of the late Martha Levangie.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm, with a funeral service to begin at 6 pm in The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton.
Interment with full military honors will be held privately in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne MA.
