James "Buddy" Morrison, 63, of New Bedford died Tuesday June 4, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Virginia M. (Mullaly) Morrison, and son of Evelyn M. (Bock) Morrison Agostinho of New Bedford and the late James Morrison.
Mr. Morrison was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
He was a member of North Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Morrison was formerly employed as an installer for New England Telephone Company until his retirement.
Mr. Morrison served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; 2 sons, James J. Morrison of Westport, and Jeffrey R. Morrison of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Deborah J. Mimoso of Rhinebeck, NY, and Donna J. Spirlet of Westport; 2 brothers, Randall Morrison of New Bedford, and Tyler Morrison of Dartmouth; 5 grandchildren, Stefanie Napier, James R. Morrison, Jeffrey R. Morrison, Meredith Mimoso and Cameron Mimoso; and several nieces and nephews.He was the grandfather of the late Rachel Mimoso and brother of the late Joanne Boehler.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 7, 2002 at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Thursday June 6, 2002 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the North Baptist Church, 750 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
