Travis C. Sutton, 58, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 7 PM, Friday, June 16, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with David Breyfogle officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service until 9 PM.
Mr. Sutton was born March 9, 1959, in Lakeland, Florida, to Cleo Bennett Sutton and the late Travis Sutton. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and served his country honorably in the Georgia National Guard. He worked in law enforcement throughout south Georgia and also did HVAC work with David’s Heating & Air. Mr. Sutton was an avid marksman and hunter and enjoyed listening to classic rock. He earned several belts in martial arts as a younger man. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Robin Sutton of Fitzgerald; his children: Shera & Mark Herndon of Kentucky, Ryan Sutton of Fitzgerald and Peyton Sutton & Teresa Maybie of Fitzgerald; a granddaughter, Gracie Sutton; a grandson, Seth Sutton; his mother, Cleo Sutton of Fitzgerald; his siblings: Judy Alston, Carol Holloman, Curtis & Nellie Sutton, Rodney & Barbara Sutton, and Janice & Steve Holman, all of Fitzgerald; and a sister-in-law, Georgianna Shiver of Fitzgerald. Many beloved nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Shiver.
