Mario A. Fernandes, age 83 of Taunton, passed away on June 13, 2017 at Morton Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Teodora (Andrade) Fernandes.
Mario was born in Fogo, Cape Verde the son of the late Joao and Margarida (Andrade) Fernandes.
Before retirement, Mr. Fernandes was employed as an airplane maintenance worker. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his friends at the community room where he lived.
Besides his beloved wife Teodora of over 23 years, he is survived by his loving children, Tito Fernandes and wife Rita, Alex Fernandes, Maria Helena Fernandes all of Taunton, Laurenco Fernandes and wife Autanita of Brockton, Domingos Fernandes and wife Sandra, Carlos A. Fernandes, Sidney FernandesJose Antone Fernandes and wife Djamila all of Praia Cape Verde, Mana Antonia Santos Fernandes and husband Motorin , ViveaFernandes both of Fogo Cape Verde and Vera Fernandesof Portugal. He was also is survived by 5 brothers, 6 sisters and was the grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of 7.
Mario’s funeral will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 8:45am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Anthony Church, 126 School St. Taunton.
Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 16th from 6 to 9 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
