WILMINGTON - Mr. Dennis Paul Hewitt, a lifelong resident of the Silver Lake area of Tewksbury and Wilmington, died peacefully Monday evening, June 12, at Lahey Medical Center after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Susan F. (Barry) Hewitt, with whom he had celebrated a forty-fourth wedding anniversary this Past December 9th.
He was born in Lowell, in November 1950, one of six children of the late Forrest H. Sr. and Elizabeth L. “Lil” (Harnden) Hewitt, and raised in Tewksbury. He was a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School, with the Class of 1969. Dennis and Susan had lived in Wilmington since 1973.
In the years Dennis enjoyed good health, he worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Tewksbury Hospital.
Dennis was lovingly described as a friend to animals, and a wild bird enthusiast. He volunteered at M.S.P.C.A. Nevin’s Farm in Methuen.
He was a member of St. Dorothy’s Parish community.
Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Sabrina Hewitt of Wilmington, Kimberly Comeau and her husband Christopher of Spencer, and Lori Bowen of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, Brandon Hewitt, Raymond Hewitt, Thomas Ledwith, Evan Comeau, Eli Ledwith, Laurin Comeau, Lexi Bowen, Johnny Bowen; was eagerly expecting the birth of a new granddaughter next October; many nieces and nephews; his faithful friend “Charlie” and was preceded in death by his five siblings, Judith Creamer, Richard W. Hewitt, Valerie Cotreau, Forrest Hewitt Jr., and Susan Wilson.
Visiting hours Friday, June 16, from 3:30 until 6:30 in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
