Denise J. Lowney, a resident of Medford for more than 50 years, passed away suddenly at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Sunday morning, June 11, 2017. She was 81 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 29, 1936, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Patrick and Katherine Alice (Dwyer) Lowney. Denise was a graduate of Somerville High School. She had many dear friends with whom she remained close and loved spending time and laughing with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially to Ireland. She will be dearly missed.
She was the loving mother of Regina M. and her husband Ernest A. Needham of Medford, David E. Schein and his wife Annemarie S. Foley of Pelham, Michael Lowney Schein Sr. and his wife Patricia A. of Melrose and the late John Patrick Schein. Cherished grandmother of Stephen, John, Danny and Craig Needham and Quinn, Emil, Desmond, Patrick, William, Michael Jr. and Kathleen Schein. She was also the devoted sister of the late Frances Lowney.
Her funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Wednesday at 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11:30 AM. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
