Obituary

COLORADO: Max A. Sarty, 96, of Colorado Springs, CO., died Sunday, Apr. 16 after a brief illness. He was a resident of Leicester, MA until Nov 2013.
He leaves his son Craig A. Sarty and his wife Debbie of Colorado Springs, three grandchildren; Jessica Valentin, Alyssa Penov and Steven Sarty, four great grandchildren; Elisia, Marcus, Joshua and Cavan. He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years Jeanette E. (Martineau) Sarty in 2013 and his son William B. Sarty in 1989.
Max served with the United States Army, 3195th Signal Service Company from Dec 1942 until Nov 1945. During this time he served in Africa and Italy for 31 months. He was employed by J. P. Brown Feed & Grain on Franklin Street in Worcester from 1939-1942 and 1945 to 1978.
He was born in Somerset, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Willis and Elva (Wagner) Sarty. He moved to Worcester in 1930 with his mother and one older brother, joining his father and other siblings. He was a longtime member of St. Pius X Parish.
Private graveside services in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Whitinsville will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers. MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is directing arrangements.
