Joseph P. Yurko of Somerville died on Sunday, June 4. A lifelong Somerville resident, he was the son of the late Robert P. and Carol (Sullivan) Yurko. Joseph worked for many years as a carpenter. He was the devoted father of Shauna C. Paquet of Somerville, and the loving brother of Beverly Douglas and her husband Mark of New York, Linda Thomas and her husband Gerald Hayes of Everett, Hollie Forristall of Worcester, Michael Thomas of Kentucky, Robert Thomas of Chelsea, and Derek Yurko of Everett. Joseph is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, June 9, at noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 10 AM – noon. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Joseph’s name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development/Jimmy Fund, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
