Jeanette Eason Doster Benson, 86, of Tifton passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Mrs. Benson will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 6, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Benson’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born February 4, 1931 in Worth County, Mrs. Benson was the daughter of the late Thomas “T. W.” Watson Eason and Earnest Theodocia Shiver Eason. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas “Tommy” Leonard Doster; and one brother, Thomas “Booch” Rutherford Eason. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in nursing and worked at Tift Regional Medical Center for 25 years and was a current member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton and a former member of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Worth County.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband, Edgar Leroy Benson of Tifton; three sons, Robert Dale Doster of McDonough and Herbert Benson and Bobby Ray Benson, both of Tifton; one daughter, Lynne Doster Mock of Woodstock; one brother, Buford Tyler “Bully” Eason of Leesburg; a sister-in-law, Barbara “Bobbie” Dockery Eason of Poulan; nine grandchildren, Maxwell Thomas Mock and Kathryn Leigh Smith, Taylor Danielle Mock Pfenning and husband Kyle Arthur Pfenning, Erin Paige Doster, James Thomas Doster, Andrew Brandon Doster, Herbert Chandler “Chance” Benson, Walter Briggs Benson, Sarah Beth Benson and Buck Turner Benson; and two great-grandchildren, Kyndle Jaid Mock and Kyler Arthur Pfenning.
