Sykes, Wayne , 67, was called home June 4, 2017 with family by his side.
He was born to Lucy Mae (Thomas) Sykes July 8, 1949 in Abbingdon, VA.
Wayne was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam, and was self-employed in the flooring industry, retiring in 2012.
He is preceded in death by his mother; and a brother, Ralph Sykes.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Betty (Carman); his children: Troy W. Sykes, James “Curtis”Sykes (Jamie), Angela F. Gilpin (Shawn), and Sondra Mae Sykes (Caleb Mullenix); grandchildren: Alex, Andrew, Austin, Leigha, Jacob, and Logan; a brother, James T. Sykes (Diana), and a sister, Faye Conner.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy. Cremation to follow. Visitation is Tuesday 4:00-8:00 PM.
