Linda Darnell-Lapete, 65 of Gorham passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones at her home on June 1, 2017. She was born in Flint MI on January 15, 1952 the daughter of the late John B. and Jean E. (LaSalle) Darnell and was raised there. After graduating high school Linda traveled abroad extensively, joining the Peace Corps. From Thailand to Germany she traveled and loved exploring and immersing herself in other cultures. In the early 80’s she moved to Gorham. After a long career of volunteer and community work she worked at the northern NH Correctional Facility for 10 years. She was an active member of the Gorham Congregational Church UCC. She enjoyed activities too many to list but her great loves were her family, painting, hiking, biking, kayaking and listening to music. She also loved her dog “Max” very much and he was always by her side.
Family includes her husband Mark Lapete of Gorham, NH; her two sons Nicholaus Wenck and wife Heather Filteau-Wenck of Shelburne NH, and Derek Lapete and his significant other Ariel Morris of Berlin, NH; Grandchildren Eillee Filteau and Evan Filteau-Wenck; sisters Mary Darnell of Flushing, MI, Anita Moliterno of Owosso MI and Nancy Bausch of Greer, SC; brothers Patrick Darnell of St. Louis, MO, Joseph Darnell of Flushing, MI and John R.Darnell of Lawrence, KS; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers Michael and Gerald Darnell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Gorham Congregational Church, UCC. There will be no calling hours. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
