Joseph C. “Jay” Carrico, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully Friday, June 2, 2017.
He was a Navy veteran, who proudly served in WW II, retired from the Naval Ordnance Station after several years of service, and was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church.
Jay was known for his sense of humor, quick wit and his love of animals. He was an avid coin collector and a skilled craftsman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Carrico; his second wife, Charlotte Carrico; a son, Joe Carrico; his brother Emmett Carrico; and sisters, Beatrice Milburn and Theresa Keefe.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory four daughters, Patricia Evans (Randy), Sharon Justice (Eddie), Beverly Overstreet, and Theresa Layman (Mike); a son, Glen Tuten; along with a sister, Emma “Boots” Martin. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and his beloved cats.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be 2 – 8 p.m. Monday.
