Auburn- Phyllis M. (Swett) Hammond, 82, passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Auburn on Thursday, June 1, 2017. She leaves behind 2 daughters- Patricia and her husband Roger Griffin of Barre, MA; Sandra and her husband Robert Gardella of Biddeford, ME; a son Kenneth Hammond of Orofino, Idaho; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister Evelyn Wills of Auburn, MA. She was predeceased by her loving husband Edmond Hammond in 1994, son Craig Hammond in 1992, and 4 brothers- Richard Howe, Roswell Swett, Ralph Sweet, and Stanley Swett.
Phyllis was born in Leominster, daughter of Roswell and Avis (Howe) Swett. She worked the counter at Liggett Pharmacy. She was a past member of Greendale People's Church. She was also a member of the Auburn Starlettes Bowling Team and a member of the 39ers Club at Coes Pond Village.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 10 am-12 noon at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St, Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home. A burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241.
