Obituary

Rene M. Davignon, 84 of New Bedford died May 31, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of Claire M. (Robitaille) Davignon with whom he would have celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary on June 1st.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Silva and Angelina (Valley) Davignon, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Davignon was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.
He was formerly employed as a master plumber and the proprietor of Rene Davignon Plumbing and Heating for many years.
Mr. Davignon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and travel especially cruising.
He was a loving husband and father.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Marie Davignon of New Bedford and Annette Paradis and her husband Curt of Acushnet; 2 brothers, Raymond Davignon and Roger Davignon, both of Acushnet; 3 sisters, Evelyn St. Amand of Acushnet and Angelina Robillard and Laurette Beals, both of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Andre Fournier and his wife Coral, Emma Paradis and Lindsey Paradis; a great-grandson, Andre; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late, Leo Davignon, Irene Polston, Alfred Davignon, Doris St. Amand and Yvonne Davignon.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 6th at 8:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, June 5th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
