Ethel M. (Ebbs) Taranto 81, of Franklin, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday May 30, 2017 at her home following an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert R. Taranto, Sr. who died in 2014.
Born March 31, 1936 in Somerville, a daughter of the late Vernon M. and Edna F. (Everton) Ebbs, she was a former resident of Randolph before moving to Franklin in 1961.
She was raised and educated in Randolph and worked for John Hancock. Upon settling in Franklin, she became a devoted wife and mother, who always put her family first. Once her children became older, she started Royal Ceramics, which was run out of her home. She had many wonderful years teaching ceramics and made many lasting friendships.
Ethel enjoyed golfing, gardening, knitting, scrabble and spending her time at the Franklin Senior Center. A devout Catholic, she was a daily communicant of St. Mary Parish in Franklin. Ethel was also the ladies club golf champion for several years in the 80”s at Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis, MA.
She is survived by her children; Robert R. Taranto, Jr. of Franklin, Barbara J. Walls of Medway and her longtime partner Richard Tartaglia, Marie E. McCarthy of Bellingham, Joseph M. Taranto of Uxbridge and David F. Taranto and his wife Karen of Franklin, 2 sisters, Dorothy Hembrough of Brockton and Mary Hayward of Holbrook.
Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Cory Walls and his wife Mellissa, Christine Walls, Erin, Michelle & Alan McCarthy, Brittany, Joseph Jr., Brandon & Julia Taranto & 4 great grandchildren, Aidan, Lorelei Walls, Isabella McCarthy, Paige Walls and many nieces & nephews.
She was the sister of the late Clarence, Robert, William, John, Jimmy, Edna, Laura, Patricia and Vernon Ebbs, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday June 6th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary Parish 1 Church Square, Franklin.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
