Obituary

Richard H. Wordell, 89, of Westport died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Sacred Heart Home, New Bedford. Having just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary, he was the devoted husband of Shirley M. (Jones) Wordell.

Born in Westport, son of the late Harold O. and Doris E. (Macomber) Wordell, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. He was a graduate of Westport High School, Class of 1945. He was a driver for United Parcel Service until his retirement in 1989, drove school bus for Tremblay Bus Company of Fall River for 17 years and completed his joy of driving for the Westport Council on Aging. Mr. Wordell was a member of the Westport Volunteer Fire Company since 1945, a member of the Westport Point United Methodist Church and a member of the Noquochoke Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Westport. He also enjoyed boating and gardening.

Survivors including his wife are a son: Alan R. Wordell of Brockton; 3 daughters: Ann E. Choquette of Dartmouth, Kathleen J. Corbeil and her husband Albert of Westport and Deborah W. Zatkowski and her husband Stanley of Franklin; a brother: Walter J. Wordell of Mattapoisett; a sister: Arline Tripp of Westport; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Westport Point United Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 - 8 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 7 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
