Lena F. Giso passed away in the company of her loving family. She was 83. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Isabella (Moreno) DiModica. A Somerville resident for over 40 years, Lena enjoyed a long career as a computer operator with NECCO, Borden and American Brands food companies. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed time with her family and friends. She was especially fond of Bingo and went out with her friends to play a few nights each week.
Lena was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. “Tony” Giso who passed away in 2008. She was a devoted mother to Michael Giso and his wife Janette of Chelsea, and Paula Ripley of Chelsea. She was a loving grandmother to Anthony Giso and his wife Emily, Crystal Hafey and her husband Stephan and the late Gina Giso. She was also a loving great-grandmother of Channell, Ariana, Shayleigh Gina and Jayceon and is also survived by her beloved dog, Tino. Lena is preceded in death by her siblings: Salvatore DiModica, Betty Fama and Zina Grasso.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Friday, June 2nd from 9 through 11 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
