Obituary

Frances Lollie Edwards McGinty, 90, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Maple Court Assisted Living in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Evers and Dr. Charles R. Parker officiating. Mrs. McGinty will be laid to rest at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Frederick “Ty” McGinty, Justin Hand, Randy Chambers, Tyler Hand, Whitten Bumbalough, Alex Bumbalough, Rhye Bumbalough and Randy Hand will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, members of the Tiftarea Board of Realtors, employees of Century 21 Smith Branch and members of the Wilda Walters Sunday School class at Northside Baptist Church of Tifton.

Born July 13, 1926 in Dublin (Laurens County), Mrs. McGinty was the daughter of the late George William Edwards and Lollie Daniel Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Adger Warren McGinty, Sr., who died in 1965; three brothers, Henry David Edwards, Charles Edwards and William Edwards; three sisters, Sara “Sister” Edwards, Claudia Underwood and Edna Sims; and a son-in-law, Gerald Jones. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton, where she had previously served as the WMU Director; on the Finance Committee; a Sunday School teacher; GA teacher; Acteens Leader; and church hostess for many years. She walked the walk and talked the talk as a Christian lady and loved her family dearly.

She was a retired realtor. In 1989, she was recognized as a life-time member of the Million Dollar Club by the Board of Realtors. In 2006, she was awarded the Pioneer Award by the Tiftarea Board of Realtors for her years in the real estate business and the impact on the industry and community. In 1987, she was the Century 21 Sales Champion. She was top sales agent in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992 for Century 21 of the Southeast; past officer of the Tiftarea Board of Realtors; GRI and received the Quality Service Award for Century 21 in 1993 and, in 2004, she was the most dedicated volunteer from Century 21.

She was a lifetime and charter member of the Tift Regional Medical Center Auxiliary (Pink Ladies), and volunteered until a year-and-a-half ago. In 2005, she received a 4,000-hour pin for volunteer hours for the Tift Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

She was in the second class of Leadership Tifton and served on the Advisory Board for Community Leadership of Tifton. She was a charter member of the Organization of Professional Women. In 1987, she served on the Tifton-Tift County Clean Community Commission and received the Distinguished Service Award. She also served on the American Heart Association Committee and was a charter family member of Tiftarea Academy.

Mrs. McGinty is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Fredrick William Sr. and Debbie McGinty of Saint Simons Island and Adger “Buzzy” W. McGinty, Jr. of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah McGinty Jones of Cairo, Melody and Clay Mauldin of Chula and Stephanie McGinty Spinks of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Leah McGinty Bumbalough, Angie Jones Taylor (David), Kecia Conoly Gray, Tiffany Mauldin, Ty McGinty, Sara Frances Spinks Hand (Justin) and Lauren Mauldin; and seven great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the building fund at Northside Baptist Church, 4605 Murray Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794; or Hospice of Tift Area, P. O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793.
