Dorothy H. (Milton) Lowther, age 97, of Winchester, passed away on May 28, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late James G. Lowther.
Born in Somerville, Dot was the daughter of the late John J. and Helen (Devanna) Milton.
Mrs. Lowther was employed for many years at the former “Topsy Turvy” children’s clothing store in Winchester, where she met and made many lifelong friends.
Dot loved fashion, and in her spare time, she loved to shop, enjoyed going to the beach and driving convertibles. Most important to her, though, was her Catholic faith and her family. She always felt that the most valuable time was the time she spent with her family.
Mrs. Lowther is survived by her children, James Lowther and his wife Heather of Merrimack, NH, Stephen Lowther of Venice, CA and Mary Beth Burns of Hingham. She was the sister of the late John Milton, and the devoted grandmother of Caitlin Lowther, Kendra Pryse, Paige and Alexandria Burns, and is further survived by a great-granddaughter Kyleigh Pryse.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wed., May 31 from 4-8PM, and again on Thursday at 9AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 158 Washington St., Winchester, MA 01890, at 10AM. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church at the address listed above.
