Obituary

DARTMOUTH — Louise C. Gallagher of S. Dartmouth, MA was born in Worcester, MA in 1924 and at an early age she moved to NJ. Although she was admitted to Smith College she decided to stay at home with family.

As a young woman she rode the bus into Manhattan every day to work at Macy’s Department Store. After graduating Katherine Gibbs School of Business she went to work as treasurer at a bank in Ridgefield, NJ. where she lived. She met her husband James Gallagher in NJ and they raised a family of four children.

She was a gifted artist who loved nothing more than sitting with her grandchildren teaching them how to draw and paint. She had a warm and loving spirit. She was always willing to set an extra place at her table. She was not one to judge other people and never had a cross word for anyone. She was a very strong woman with a keen sense of humor. She has been heard to say “You haven’t lived until you have danced on a table in Paris” which is something she actually did. Her love, generous spirit and smiling Irish eyes will be missed.

She is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous cousins.

A service will be held on June 3, 2017 at 1 P.M. at the Allen’s Neck Meeting of Friends in Dartmouth, MA.
