Obituary

GLASTONBURY, CT — Hilda May Catlow (formerly Boomer), 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, at Brookdale Buckingham in Glastonbury, Connecticut with her family by her side following a long period of declining health.

Born and raised in New Bedford, she greatly enjoyed summers spent at Horseneck Beach. In her early years she worked in the union office of the Wamsutta Mills in New Bedford. She served the City of New Bedford for a number of years as a cashier in the New Bedford High School cafeteria, and for 40 years as warden at the Hathaway School polling station. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, the late Herbert Catlow of New Bedford and her parents, Abram and Gladys Boomer. Hilda is survived by her son, William Catlow and his wife, Sandra, of Princeton, MA, daughter, Deborah Magoon and her husband Gary, of Manchester, CT, three grandchildren, Ian Catlow and his wife Rachel of Princeton, MA, Gregory Magoon of Woburn, MA, and Jessica Hunter and her husband Jonathan of Newington, CT, two great-grandsons, and a newborn great-granddaughter.

The family would like to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the dedicated and compassionate caregivers in both Connecticut and Massachusetts who assisted Hilda in her final years.

A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Chapel, 479 County Street, New Bedford at 11 AM on Saturday, June 3rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ.ORG
