E. L. Duckworth, 87, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Monday, May 29, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Paul Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Duckworth was born April 6, 1930, in Worth County, Georgia, to the late Emmett & Vera Harris Duckworth. He has lived in the community for over 40 years and was a farmer. Mr. Duckworth enjoyed his farming, gardening and tending to his crops. He was of the Holiness faith.
He is survived by his children: Carline & Hubert Crider of Elberton and Eddie Duckworth of Fitzgerald; step-children: Carol Sue & Doug Bowen of Tifton, Bonnie Gentry of Mystic and James & Doris Dyess of Ocilla; 17 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; siblings: Homer & Alice Duckworth of Ashburn, Wallace & Sue Duckworth of Gainesville, Florida, Dorothy Lee McDaniel & Bob of Ashburn, Rueben & Ann Duckworth of Ashburn, Johnny & Shirley Duckworth of Ashburn and Mamie Duckworth of Ashburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Fletcher Duckworth; one son, Edward L. Duckworth; five brothers, one sister and one step-son.
