NEW BEDFORD — Esther Ellis, age 87 years, of New Bedford, died Friday May 26, 2017 at Brandon Woods, New Bedford, after a period of delcing health.
Wife of the late John F. Ellis, she had resided at Whaler’s Cover Assisted Living for many years.
Born in Providence, R.I., her parents were the late Exias and Emiline (Desrochers) Nadeau. Esther was an employee of Acushnet Company Rubber Division and previously worked in the fishing industry. She had lived in Freetown most of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Ellis of Texas, Donald Liberty of Boston, and David Ellis of New Bedford; her daughters, Julie Debois of Lakeville and Denise Fournier of Florida; her grandchildren, Sarah Debois, Ann Marie Debois, Sophia Ellis and Samuel Ellis, and her goddaughter Wendy Medeiros DaRosa.
Her funeral arrangements are private with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested remembrances be made to the charity of one’s choice.
