GOTTSCHALK John H. Known affectionately as “Bowtie”, Retired Sergeant Detective B.P.D. of West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain passed away on May 27, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Eilene (McLaughlin) Gottschalk. Devoted father of Bonita “Bonnie” Gottschalk of West Roxbury, John Gottschalk and his wife Janice of Norwood, and Heidi Gaffney and her husband Michael of West Roxbury. Loving grandfather of Leanne Vargas, Kurt Gottschalk, and John, Neal, and Daniel Gaffney and the late Timothy, Patrick, and Michaela Gaffney. Great-grandfather of Olivia Vargas.
WWII Navy Veteran. John spent most of his 40 year police career at Area A, Downtown, Boston.
Funeral from the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Wednesday. May 31st at 8:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church, West Roxbury at 9:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, May 30th from 4-8pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
