Ronald G. Doucette, 74

Dateline: Fredericksburg, VA

Ronald G. Doucette, age 74, of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Alexandria and Mansfield, MA, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, on Thursday May 25, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie A. (Picchi) Doucette, to whom he was wed for nearly thirty-two years.

Born in Englewood, New Jersey on January 16, 1943, he was a loving son of the late George and Lillian (Beck) Doucette.

Ron grew up in New Jersey, was a 1961 graduate of Bergenfield High School and also attended Rutgers University. He had made his home in Virginia for the past thirty years and previously resided in Mansfield for many years.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Doucette worked as a supervisor and bus driver for the Fairfax County Public School System. He had previously been employed as a limousine driver, assigned to the White House during the Bush and Clinton Administration.

Ron’s memberships included being a former member and past Exalted Ruler of the Taunton B.P.O.E. Lodge of Elks and a former member of the Mansfield B.P.O.E. Lodge of Elks. While residing in Mansfield, he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, served on the Mansfield Planning Board and coached Mansfield Little League.

Ron treasured the times spent with his adoring family. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed building remote control boats.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children Karen C. Ferrara of Bristol, RI, Scott M. Doucette of Miami, FL and Nicole M. Breitenbach-Doucette of Woodbridge, VA. He was the dear brother of Gail I. Christensen of Raleigh, NC. He was the cherished grandfather of Genevieve, Frankie, Scotty and Mia, and is also survived by his mother in law Rose Picchi of North Attleboro, as well his in-laws, nieces and nephews.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will begin on Tuesday, June 6th at 10:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 5th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Ron’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to Capital Caring Hospice of Fredericksburg, 111 Olde Greenwich Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
