Funeral services for Gene Carswell, 79, of Ashburn, GA. will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be private. Mr. Carswell passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 due to a brief illness.
The son of the late James Hamilton and Lee Alma Patrick Carswell, he was born in Brooks County, GA. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashburn. He loved horticulture, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and worked on and sold C.B. Radios for years. He also obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry from the University of Georgia.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gayle Carswell of Ashburn, GA., daughter, Patricia (Charles) C. Brantley of Ashburn, GA., sons Eugene Patrick “Rick” (Susan) Carswell, Jr. of Sycamore, GA., James Hodgson “Jim” Carswell, Sr. of Ashburn, GA., brother William Hamilton (Ann) Carswell of Reidsville, GA., five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 28, 2017 from one until the hour of service at Perry Funeral Chapel.
