Betty Jane Myers Hubbard departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on May 25th, 2017.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday May 27, 2017 at the Fitzgerald Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. David Ash officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday and the family will receive friends at this time.
She was born June 16, 1935 to Paul Otto and Jennie Belle (Davis) Myers on the Cumberland Homestead in Cumberland County, Tennessee near Crossville. She attended Doyle schools where she was a member of the basketball team. She worked in the shirt factory during her high school years. She would return to school years later and was proud to obtain her GED.
At 22 years of age on March 27, 1958, she married the man who would be her partner and helpmate throughout the rest of her life, Rev. James B. Hubbard. This began a lifetime of ministry for the two of them together beginning in Gordonsville, Tennessee at the Church of the Nazarene until 1964. From there, they were called to Fitzgerald, Georgia and ministered there together until 1971. The Lord called upon them again and they moved to Savannah, Georgia and ministered at Savannah Central Church of the Nazarene until 1974. Their ministry then moved to Lebanon, Tennessee and they served at Lebanon First Church of the Nazarene until 1977. God spoke once again and they returned to Fitzgerald, Georgia to serve out the remainder of their ministry until he retired July of 1993.
She served faithfully as his wife and companion in their ministry together until his passing in 2013. She served her life in devotion to God, Church and family, at all times thankful for the many blessings God had bestowed on them. She abundantly loved her family and was incredibly proud of them. She will be missed by them every day.
She is survived by: Son: James A. Hubbard and his children Audrey, Olivia and Gabriella Hubbard, Daughter: Melody D. Hubbard and her children Shaun (Hannah) Evans and Shelby Evans. Brothers:Billy C. (Ellen) Myers, Jack (Carol) Myers, Charlie (Brenda) Myers, Bruce (Beverly) Myers and Sisters: Judy Rodgers and Janice Bowen. She was preceded in death by: Paternal Grandparents: Samuel A and Ollie Jane (Taylor) Myers, Maternal Grandparents: Cossie Monroe and Laura Belle (Raper) Davis, Parents: Paul Otto Myers and Jennie Belle (Davis) Myers, Brothers: Joe Donald Myers, Paul Otto Myers, Jr., Johnny Bradford Myers and James Arnold Myers.
