David B. Goggin, 60, of Fairhaven passed away Monday May 22, 2017.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John F. and Germaine (Bernard) Goggin, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
In his youth, David's parents owned and operated Goggin's Variety on County Street in New Bedford. It was there that he acquired his love for cooking. After graduating from Bishop Stang High School, he continued his education at the Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie, NY. Upon graduation he returned to work as a cook at Goggin's Variety, and later was employed at various area restaurants including Jake's Diner, the Courtyard Restaurant, and Domino's Pizza.
David was an avid Boston sports fan. He was a former member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
He is survived by his siblings, Anne M. Whiting and her companion Kevin Baptista, and John F. Goggin, all of Dartmouth, and Peter J. Goggin of Fairhaven; his nieces and nephews, Jeff Goggin, Andrea Goggin, Eric Goggin, and Angela Pereira and her husband Rob Remillard; and several cousins, Shauneen Crane, Paddy Marsh, Mary McDevitt, and Paul Bernard.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday May 31, 2017 at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday May 30, 2017 from 4-7 PM.
