Joan E. Thomas (Jo) died on May 20, 2017 in Scituate, MA at the age of 91.
Daughter of George K. Harney and Marguerite L. DeCoste. Sister of the late Patricia A. Hall, Plymouth, MA, the late Thomas J. Harney, Plymouth, MA, the late William E. Harney, Chelmsford, MA, and Mrs. M. Carol Gallagher, Chelmsford, MA.
Jo was born and raised in Plymouth, MA. She had three children: the late Barry Roberts, Plymouth, MA, William Fries, Plympton, MA, and Thomas Fries of Ohio. Grandmother of 6, great-grandmother of many.
Jo was pre-deceased by her beloved husband: Dana E. Thomas of Carver, MA. She and Dana were lively storytellers – many a tale came from when Dana was a County Sheriff in Maine and Jo was Deputy Sheriff.
Jo was colorful and made people laugh. She loved to paint folk art, refinish furniture (and homes), and knit blankets for all. She found joy in the little things-- yelling at a Patriot’s game on tv, finding a great restaurant, buying new black pants, reading a good mystery, blasting Roy Orbison, reciting the best scenes from Moonstruck, savoring frozen snickers, and playing dice with family and friends.
Thank you to Patrice and the people at Life Care Center of the South Shore for laughing with her. Funeral arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity.
