Gertrude P. "Maggie" (McGrath) Urquhart, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester following an extended illness. She was 87 years old.
Maggie was born in Boston on November 1, 1929, a daughter of the late William J. McGrath and Margaret (Cotter) McGrath. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system. Maggie worked as a Homemaker thru the Inter-City Program in Malden for over 25 years.
Maggie is the beloved wife of the late Robert B. Urquhart. She is the devoted mother of Robert B. Urquhart Jr. of Revere, Bernadette Hoell and her late husband Robert of Charlestown, Mark Urquhart of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Trudy Brennan and her husband Paul of Weymouth, Scott Urquhart and his wife Debbie of Everett and Troy Urquhart and his wife Janice of Woburn. She is the dear mother-in-law of Debbie Urquhart of New Hampshire. She is the loving Nana to Christopher, Deanne, Bryan, Colleen, Bobby, Mark, Ian, Conor, Scottie, Christi, Ronnie and great-Nana to Little Maggie. She is the beloved sister of the late Louise Marderosian, Theresa Chesenski, Mary Torpey, Butsy McGrath, Frannie McGrath and Billy McGrath. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Maggie's Funeral on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
