FALL RIVER – Edmund C. Vieira, age 92 of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at R.I. Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary (Motta) Vieira and the son of the late Jesse & Isabel (Rosa) Vieira. Prior to retiring in 1987, Ed worked as an equipment maintenance man at Quaker Fabric for 33 years. He was also employed at the Fall River State Pier
He was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish and the former Our Lady of the Angels Church, a Marion Medal recipient, a former V.P. of the Holy Name Society, a knight with the Knights of Columbus Father J Boehr Council in Tiverton, RI, a board member for the Council on Aging and he was active in various political activities.
Survivors include his children: Russell Vieira (wife Pauline) of Fall River, Michael Vieira (fiancée Dawn Costa) of Westport, Jeffrey Vieira (wife Joanne) of Fall River, and the late Sandra Louise Vieira; his niece: Ruth Cabeceiras of Fall River, who was like a daughter to him; 3 grandchildren: Cory Vieira (wife Nicole), Courtney Sardinha (husband Jason), Kyle Vieira (wife Crystal); 4 great grandchildren: Parker & Josephine Sardinha and Cory “CJ” Vieira Jr. & Ellie Vieira; a step granddaughter: McKayla Costa; & several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was the brother of the late Francis Costa, William, Tony, James, Alfred, John, & Jesse Vieira.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. on Saturday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Church, S. Main St. at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours on Friday 5-8 P.M.
