Obituary

LOWELL—Warren J. Kerrigan, Sr., 84 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Monday evening, September 19th, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, in Bedford. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Scanlon) Kerrigan.

He was born in Lowell, on August 31, 1921, a son of the late Peter and Mary (Winn) Kerrigan, and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Lowell High School.

Mr. Kerrigan was a highly decorated veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He participated in the Pacific Campaign and received the Purple Heart with three Clusters, for wounds received. He had been employed as a Printer for over 30 years at Sullivan Brothers Printers, in Lowell.

He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and held membership in the Lowell Lodge of Elks, the C.C.A. Club, the East End Club, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a founding member of the Marine Corps League.

Surviving him are his four children and their spouses: Warren J. and Loretta Kerrigan, of Shirley; Brian T. Kerrigan, of Dracut; Jay and Lorraine Kerrigan, of Litchfield, NH; and Lynne A. and Joseph Slattery, of Pelham, NH; thirteen grandchildren: Lisa Collins; Amy Ivas; Tara Cucchiara; Kelly, Jay, Alison, Blake, and Shannon Kerrigan; Justin, Julie, Michael, Elizabeth and Joseph Slattery; six great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Meghan, Brian Collins; and Emma, Leila and Isobel Cucchiara; a sister: Rita Sullivan, of Centerville, MA; a brother-in-law: Richard Scanlon, of Lowell; a niece: Kathleen Sullivan and five nephews: Thomas and George Sullivan, Glenn Olsen, Joseph and Mark Nugent.

He was the father of the late Peter Kerrigan.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 22nd, from 4 until 8 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Friday morning, September 23rd, at 10 AM at ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
